scriptwriting in the early hours is not a good way to stay sane
Owen - One of These Days Dir: Joe Wigdahl
Another music video that I love for it’s simplicity and another artist I’ve been listening to a lot of late. Mike Kinsella is one of my favourite musicians so as a filmmaker it’s disappointing that he only has two music videos for his Owen material. This one though fit the mood of the track perfectly i think.
99% of the time, I’m all for shooting on digital for video/film related things as I never feel I can justify the cost and risk of film for what I’m trying to do but the look of this video is fantastic and really makes me want to shoot more on film.
Childish Gambino - Freaks And Geeks Dir: Dan Eckman
I’ve been listening to a pretty large amount of Childish Gambino the past few days and I’d totally forgotten how much I like this video. I think a lot of rappers tend to have videos that are a little OTT as if they feel it should make a bigger statement than their music or whatever but the simplicity of this just puts all the focus on Donald Glover and his talent.
Granted, the fact it’s one shot and it’s moving, make this not so simple from a cinematography perspective, but still conceptually a very raw, minimal video that I really like
Trailer for Final Days
middle of the night grading for Mantis and then I’ll do some more for Final Days.
I need to start getting strategic about this festival mallarky
Waking Life, 2001 (dir. Richard Linklater)

a ridiculously thought provoking film to say the least

should have a trailer for Final Days up over the next few days
I know this sounds silly and I know that I might sound ridiculous. Like this is the scene in the movie where the guy’s trying to get ahold of the long lost son, you know, but this is that scene. This is that scene. And I think that they have those scenes in movies because they’re true, you know, because they really happen. And you gotta believe me. This is really happening. I mean, I can give you my number and you can go check with whoever you have to go check with and call me back, but do not leave me hanging on this. Alright? Please? See, this is the scene in the movie where you help me out.
Magnolia, 1999 (dir. Paul Thomas Anderson)
Magnolia will always be one of the greatest films ever in my opinion

so now i’m going to Mike’s to go work on the sound some more for Final Days, hopefully we’ll get it done and i can just spend the next day doing colouring and finishing off a last little bit of paperwork.
currently playing around on Color, as I want the flashbacks to Rob’s childhood in Final Days to be very summery and warm.
I’m basing what i’m doing off of a few youtube tutorials and general playing around
